When I grow up I want to be a hair stylist!
So, for the last few months I had decided I wanted to rid myself of my black hair (which I’ve had for about four or five years) and go red again. I haven’t been a redhead since I was a teenager and I really wanted a change. The only problem? The last time I went to a salon to get them to strip the black from my hair it took them five hours (and five people) and it was excruciating (both on my head and on my wallet).
With the whole house ordeal up in the air, the hubby and I have been watching our spending very closely, because we’re not sure what the outcome is going to be of all of this. I said I was going to wait until we could afford for me to go get my hair done professionally, but Simon kept mumbling about how much it was going to cost and what a waste it was going to be.
After much consideration, I decided – what the hell? How hard could it be? I was going to be brave and do it myself. I went to the beauty store that my aunt (who also happens to be a hair stylist) told me to visit, and got some ColorFix. I should have known when I went to Target and bought a paint brush for wall painting to use as an applicator for the color stripper on my hair that it probably wasn’t a good idea that I was doing this on my own. My mother helped, and after two and a half hours, the above picture was the outcome: Dark brown/black hair with flame red roots.
SEXY.
I was so frustrated and disappointed, saying I was just going to dye my hair black again and be done with it, but Simon won’t let me. And neither will my mother. They both said that it doesn’t look that awful, and I should just let it grow a little more and try it again. I say I’m waiting until we have enough money and I’m heading straight to my stylist, begging for forgiveness and asking her to fix my mess. God only knows how much that is going to cost me.
As Amanda said: Hey! Now it looks like you are a real redhead who dyed her hair black and it’s now growing out :P Think positive :D
And so, there you have it folks. Next time you want to try a DIY salon trick, remember your poor pal Jessa (and Aubrey, because she feels me, too!) and GO TO YOUR STYLIST.

Haha, aww. I would never trust myself to do my hair myself. Plus, I love my hair stylist and always want an excuse to see him. I’m sorry that your experiment didn’t turn out how you wanted it to!

It really isn’t that bad, I bet your hair will start growing in and cover up those red roots in no time! And yeah, if I ever do anything again, I’m also heading straight to the stylist. My hair debacles usually involve me trying to do it myself to save money, then having to buy another kit or two to try it again at home, but then ending up having to run to the salon anyway, and it costs me way more than it would have if I had just went to a stylist in the first place. But I’m done dying my hair, I think. Anyway, *hugs*. You look so ASHAMED in your photo, and it makes me sad!

Jessa, I promise you – it really doesn’t look bad. I personally think it’s pretty cool! You know I wouldn’t lie to you. Chin up doll! You’re gorgeous, regardless.

People should be more cautious when using hair dye because some chemicals used in the dyeing process are cancerous.-~.
